Dereskina
Video Essay Sabar Dance
Dereskina is an invented term made of “der” (skin in Wollof) and “skin”. This duet addresses the question of appropriation of another culture through movement. How can we enter in another cultural language through gesture? A dance creates the opportunity to feel through the skin of alterity and share his/her intimacy. How do others feel, think, breathe, and experience the world? Dereskina is about the intercultural transmission of gestures, questioning the exhibition of Whiteness/Blackness.
The duet is performed by André Dramé, international afro-contemporary dancer/choreographer trained by Germaine Acogny (Cie Jant-Bi) and Claire Vionnet, dancer and anthropologist.
